During the past weekend, social media platforms were flooded with pictures from the Bridgeton season three premiere which was held in Johannesburg, the theme of the premiere was Regency Era Splender: Into The Spotlight.
Bridgeton is a Netflix series that follows through during the Regency era in England where eight close-knit siblings of the powerful Bridgerton family attempt to find love.
Social media users took to X (an app formerly known as Twitter) and expressed how much the South African girlies disappointed them because they did not even dress anything close to the theme.
One user said, “Most of our South African girlies could’ve sat this one out hey.”
Another one compared South Africans to Nigerians:
South Africans didn’t understand the assignment 🙈😩. Nigerians, on the other hand, mopped the floor with them #BridgertonS3 pic.twitter.com/ejmco3Y26R

Another user said, “What’s funny about South African celebrities and influencers is that they will wear a proper ball gown to a Polo event, and then when an event requires them to wear a ball gown NOTHING.”
However, there were a few who followed the theme, these are Blue Mbombo, Michelle Mosalakae, and Hope Mbele.
These are the only Southie girls who fought for the country’s dignity: Blue Mbombo, Michelle Mosalakae, and Hope Mbele. Everyone else, from Thando Thabethe to Bonko Khoza, was a total disgrace.#BridgertonS3 pic.twitter.com/SQE0cCUkT2
