We have all heard the saying, “When one door closes, another one opens” – and this has been the case for former Miss South Africa finalist Chidimma Adetshina.
The 23-year-old model recently accepted the invitation offered by her father’s birth country, to compete in this year’s Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.
In a lengthy post, Chidimma expressed her excitement towards the opportunity.
“I cannot start this video without expressing my gratitude to all the amazing, incredible people who have shown me so much love and support.”
“I have received an invitation from the Silverbird Group who are the organisers of the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant, and I say this with great excitement because I have decided to accept this invitation.
She later added that she understood the responsibility and expectation that comes with the title and is excited to embark on the journey.
She concluded, “Thank you so much for this opportunity, and I look forward to participating in Africa’s most prestigious beauty pageant, Miss Universe Nigeria.”

Last week the 23-year-old announced her withdrawal from the pageant just days ahead of the highly anticipated grand finale which took place at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria on Saturday. This came after she endured multiple weeks of online bullying as a result of her Nigerian and Mozambican heritage.
Following the events that unfolded, in a statement the organiser of Miss Universe Nigeria stated that they have followed her journey for a while and felt that her story is not over.
