Congratulations are in order as Chief Justice Raymond Zondo’s daughter Ziphozenkosi Zondo celebrates getting admitted as an attorney.
According to news publication, The Witness, Ziphozenkosi was amongst 12 other young attorneys to be admitted by KwaZulu-Natal Judge President Thoba Poyo-Dlwati at the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
As she follows in her father’s footsteps Chief Justice Raymond Zondo 2022 will be handing over his reins to the first black Chief Justice of the country, Mandisa Maya in September 2024.
Speaking to the above-mentioned source on his daughter’s admission Chief Justice said, “I don’t want to put any pressure on her by expecting her to be chief justice one day, but my greatest wish is for her to be a successful attorney.”
ZiMoja adds that he was excited for his daughter to follow in his footsteps by choosing the legal route. He said, “I am honoured that she would choose the same profession as mine. I always advise my children to follow their dreams, this is their dream, and there is no pressure. She initially wanted to study drama, but her friends told her she would make a great lawyer. We are proud of her and support her.”
Raymond Zondo’s daughter isn’t the only one to achieve greatness as his son 34-year-old Khaya Zondo plays for the South African national cricket team, Proteas as a batter who has gone on to win many international and home-ground cricket matches.
Speaking to The Witness, the KZN Judge President Poyo-Dlwati added that she was happy to see a lot of women as part of the admissions in Women’s Month.
She said, “I congratulate all of you, I am pleased to see that all of you have dressed appropriately and I would like to see you keep it up. Not even the sky’s the limit, and remember integrity is something you will never lose without your permission. It is your actions that will make you lose it. Be respectful to your colleagues and judiciary.”
