As a young person in Cape Town, I owe it to myself to be part of more spaces that are filled with youth, which I undeniably admit that I have not been to any very sadly.
The ComUnity festival marks my very first youth event and man, did they not disappoint. Nothing can compare to the energy and excitement at this year’s festival. Held at the iconic Old Biscuit Mill on December 16th, the event was an unforgettable celebration of youth, music, fashion, and food, with Jack and Coke leading the way as headline sponsors.
The atmosphere was electrifying as soon as I stepped in. With a mix of both up-and-coming and well-known performers such as Felo le Tee, Pierre Johnson, and Lenneth Bowers which were by far my favourite showcases of the evening. ComUnity is truly a place where fashion, music, and culture all come together to create a unique experience.
I had the opportunity to witness what it means to let loose and enjoy yourself and of course, this comes as a surprise to me because I did not know I had it in me. I then proudly brought home some moves that I can only give credit to the Jack and Coke team as they curated unexpected experiences throughout the day where I was seated (or rather not for long as I joined in on the fun) in their section.
The Jack and Coke collaboration between smooth Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey and cool Coca-Cola has been the ideal combination since 1907, resulting in a “perfect match that now goes together wherever you go”, which made so much sense to include it at the festival.
