A recent social media post by President Paul Kagame of Rwanda has left a bitter taste in the mouths of South African citizens, triggering their patriotism as they passionately fight for the country’s and the President’s interests.
It is no secret that this republic is riddled with a plethora of ills, while the people are constantly at odds when it comes to coming to a consensus about what is best for the country and its people. However, one thing South Africans have proven is that at any point in time, they will drop everything to come together to call to order anyone who dares threaten the common good of the nation.
Recently, the president of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, took X (formerly Twitter) to address and correct Cyril Ramaphosa about some inaccuracies he had reported to his citizens regarding the two conversations they had this week.
According to President Kagame, President Ramaphosa had deliberately distorted the facts of the discussion that they had held and looked to correct some of the information that Ramaphosa falsely reported to his people, and then went on to question Ramaphosa’s leadership.
I held two conversations this week with President Ramaphosa on the situation in Eastern DRC, including earlier today. What has been said about these conversations in the media by South African officials and President Ramaphosa himself contains a lot of distortion, deliberate… https://t.co/i78aqtVjpr

Similarly to how sleeper agents react when they hear their trigger words, South Africans rushed to come to their president’s defence and took offence to Kagame, essentially calling their leader a liar in front of the masses. Furthermore, his closing remarks read ” If South Africa wants to contribute to peaceful solutions, that is well and good, but South Africa is in no position to take on the role of a peacemaker or mediator. And if South Africa prefers confrontation, Rwanda will deal with the matter in that context any day,” and rubbed many the wrong way.
This particular statement from Kagame resulted in tensions intensifying even further as both South African and Rwandan citizens jumped to defend their own. Social media has since been plagued with South Africans condemning Kagame’s actions, and pledging their allegiance to their country, with some revealing that they would gladly go to war to protect the good and interests of their country.
I am not an ANC member but i will never ever allow anyone to insult and threaten Cyril Ramaphosa because he is the face of SA, anyone who want war with SA will definitely get it, and we are not scared of any country when it comes to war , we have SANDF🔥🔥🔥💪🏾 #DRCconflict pic.twitter.com/YUmejkeqbZ

What kills me is there people who have been fooled by PR to think Rwanda could go more than 3 months in war with SA, even Kagame knows that, he’s just smart enough to know that SA is tied up in more red tape than him.😭
