The Democratic Alliance (DA) Member of Parliament, Liam Jacobs, has recently become the subject of online criticism following his recent interrogation of the South African Football Association’s (SAFA’s) Danny Jordaan.

Known for his direct approach and passion for exposing corruption and the mismanagement of state funds, the 24-year-old has become one of the most praised politicians since the inception of the Government of National Unity; however, following his recent engagement with the SAFA president during the Sports portfolio committee session some believe that he might just be losing good morals.

As expected, Liam came and confronted Danny head-on, asking, “Do you believe in the concept of democracy?” as well as instructing the SAFA president to turn on his mic when responding.

During the fiery exchange, Liam also questioned the former apartheid activist on his 12-year term as the organisation’s president, highlighting that he was one of the “longest serving presidents on the planet before attempting to point out his accountability. He highlighted various instances where his department spent thousands of rands on travel expenses and accommodation while the SAFA faces financial strains.

While the young politician made sure to come prepared with documents to substantiate his questioning, he later came under criticism in the assembly, where members of the gathering criticised his lack of respect when addressing Danny, who is deemed much older than him.

During the assembly, member PA Marlon Daniels interrupted and stated: “What I witnessed here is not right. It is absolutely rude for a child to have that kind of conduct toward someone old enough to be his father.”

Liam Jacob’s GRILLING SAFA President Danny Jordan very hard. An arrogant, agitated and unprepared Danny Jordan was sweating like never before. Very rude I may add. To be he shock and horror of everyone in parliament an MP called honourable Liam Jacob’s a child. Danny Jordan… pic.twitter.com/oBcV8DWjso

This seemed to set the tone for the online community to voice their opinions on social media platforms, with many now believing that Liam has passion for politics has been tainted by his desire to gain affirming reactions on social media platforms.

Liam Jacobs is very disrespectful

I do not like Danny Jordan, he should have been gone long ago however, this boy is too ignorant; he is too much on Muvhango or Generations, trying to be the main character.

This boy needs to go work and learn manners! He is asking a question and not allowing Danny to answer
