Cape Town-based rapper and songwriter Odwa Situma, better known as Dee Koala, speaks on being the brand ambassador for athletic apparel company Adidas South Africa for five years.
The star appeared in a recent interview on SlikourOnLife, where she revealed that she has enjoyed working with the brand.
“The relationship with me and Adi [Adidas] is just home, man. They like me for me. What drew them to me was when I did my first capsule and I was dressed in Adi and they just dig my energy, the person beside the music.
“They say I’m a bit of a character. I don’t know, but they also like the fact that I’m a human being and I influence with all of me. The fact that I’m also able to drip in Adi the way I want is the most comfortable thing ever. I just love being with them, it’s home, the clothes are comfortable, and it’s my kind of swag,” Dee Koala said.
The rapper, who recently dropped Gwan with rapper Maglera Doe Boy, revealed on an episode of POPcast 4 Real that the song took her two years to make. She revealed that it was initially meant to be Maglera’s but ended up being hers as she had laid the verse and a hook.
“Our relationship is so cool because it doesn’t feel like owing or favours, it’s just fun like that. It keeps us on our toes, which is why he and I have such a cool relationship. He laced his verse, I didn’t put a verse, then I went home, things happened,” she said.
