In an exclusive interview with Xabiso Ngqabe, Dineo Rasedile opens up about her role as Gugu, a township lawyer making waves in Sandton’s legal circles in the Showmax original ‘Law, Love and Betrayal’.  The character of Gugu is not just a reflection of raw determination and resilience but also a portrayal of someone grappling with her complex past.

Dineo initially felt nervous when she first read the script for her role as Gugu Mabaso, a legal drama character, due to her inexperience with legal-themed shows. However, thorough preparation boosted her confidence.

“I was nervous at first since it’s a legal show and I’ve never done anything like that before. The audition involved these lengthy monologues filled with legal jargon.”

This role marks a significant departure from Dineo’s previous characters, who were younger and required a different approach. Her recent career prayer to play a more mature role made this opportunity feel like a fulfilled wish, and she diligently fought for the part through the audition process.

According to SowetanLIVE, Dineo said her youthful look often led to her being cast in teen roles, despite being an adult. After ten years in the industry, she’s thrilled to finally land the adult role of Gugu, which she had hoped for at the beginning of the year.

Dineo further told Xabiso that she relates to Gugu’s strong family values and commitment to justice, though she approaches things more thoughtfully than Gugu’s intense action.

In Law, Love and Betrayal, Dineo Rasedile will be joined by Pearl Modiadie and Nimrod Nkosi. Modiadie plays Ayanda Gumede-Williams, while Nkosi takes on the role of Gatsha Gumede, the founder of Gumede & Associates as reported by The South African.
