After uttering comments relating to gender-based violence (GBV), disqualified Big Brother Mzansi contestant Yolanda Monyai released an official apology directed at her housemates who were affected.
During one of the episodes, Yolanda made comments about wanting to “molest” one of her housemates. In another threatening comment that the Limpopo-born sales consultant made about the contestant Papa Ghost, she stated, “I’m going to go rape Ghost. I’m going to force myself into his bed.”
MultiChoice, the broadcasting company on which the reality competition show aired, released a statement after investigating the matter.
“We do not condone any acts that threaten the safety of the housemates on the show, and we take gender-based violence seriously. Therefore, the housemate who made the threatening remarks [Yolanda] has been disqualified from the game.”

Yolanda has since apologised to the cast via a video.
“Guys, I just want to apologise for what happened on Thursday. I want to apologise to Ghost for what I said to you and what I said about you on that clip that you saw,” said Yolanda. “I just hope that you forgive me or find it in your heart to forgive me. I know that you know that’s not what I meant and the whole thing just landed wrong. I apologise for that.”
Yolanda then explained her reasons behind the comments made towards Papa Ghost:
“Because you are 27 and I am 33 if we slept together, it would kind of look like that [possible rape] to people.”
Yolanda then apologised to the rest of the cast, viewers, and her mother, for whom she entered the competition.
Yolanda admits that she was wrong. Apologies to Ghost, all the housemates, her mom and the Yolifires.
We forgive and love you baby. ❤️#BBMzanzi #YolandaMukondeleli pic.twitter.com/bLB58RXu8J
