Durbanite DJ and producer Sfiso Mjoli, famously known as DJ Fisherman returned to the industry after a decade-long hiatus.
It looks like the Call Out hitmaker finally listened to mzansi listeners as he recently announced his new music drop titled, Chapter X.
According to entertainment publication, ZiMoja, the DJ’s last music project was released in 2014, adding that the reason behind his break was due to him needing a mental health break and issues regarding his music royalties.
He said, “I took time away for my mental health. I became very depressed,” adding, “I don’t want to go back and think about some of those experiences. You can’t run away from the music calling.”
Despite taking this long break, DJ Fisherman recently sat down with DailySun where he spoke on his latest music whilst highlighting his music journey.
Describing his new sound in the Chapter X album, he stated that this new album would combine vintage Fisherman vibes with a contemporary touch, marking a huge advancement in his career.
“I felt like there was a story left untold. Chapter X is about stepping back into my passion with a fresh perspective and a deeper understanding of who I am as an artist. After taking some time to reflect and grow, I wanted to create something that felt authentic to my journey.”
During his ten-year break, he noted that advancements in technology posed challenges, as he had to become familiar with new tools and techniques. Despite his initial hesitance, collaborating with talented musicians and producers provided him with encouragement and support. This collaborative environment reignited his willingness and creativity for music, showcasing the importance of community in the arts.
