DJ Maphorisa teases new projects

Renowned DJ Maphorisa is giving fans a taste of what’s to come with two exciting projects set to drop on March 28.

The popular South African DJ, singer, songwriter, and record producer shared a sneak peek on Instagram that got everyone talking.

In the post, he showed off some visuals that look AI-generated, with a futuristic background to match. Dressed in surgical scrubs, DJ Maphorisa, whose real name is Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe, knows how to tease a crowd.

But that wasn’t all. In a separate post, he shared a music sample with a cryptic caption: “18 March.” Fans are already buzzing, wondering if this is a clue for what’s coming next.

Earlier this year, DJ Maphorisa partnered with global tech brand HONOR, teaming up with DJ Tira to launch the #HONORX9cOpenVerseChallenge on TikTok.

The challenge invited aspiring musicians and content creators to show off their lyrical skills, with a beat created by Maphorisa and Tira. The grand prize? A cool R20,000 in cash, a brand-new HONOR X9c smartphone, and an exclusive studio session with the man himself.

The winner, Thaphelo Khoza (aka @soultaker_sa), was announced, and DJ Maphorisa had this to say: “OVI @SoulTaker came through with bars… let’s see what happens next week when we hit the studio.
