DJ Sbu – co-founder of the energy drink MoFaya – recently stated that he is not jealous of the currently popular energy and hydration drink Prime, created by YouTubers Logan Paul and KSI.
In a recently uploaded YouTube video, DJ Sbu opened the video by boldly stating, “I am not jealous of Prime.”
He then congratulated Prime for “coming into the marketplace” as well as the creators behind the popular drink, claiming that he is never intimidated.
“I actually love competition, and it’s actually not competition. Like, what am I even saying? That’s a sports drink… like your Powerade and your Energade,” said the DJ. He then went on to say that Prime is not an energy drink like MoFaya, while listing other popular energy drinks in South Africa.
Sbuda mentioned that he is rather inspired by the two people (South African-born Hilton Schlosberg and Rodney Sacks) who created the energy drink Monster.
He continued, “There is another player in the marketplace. The fact that people are talking about Prime, I look at it with a lens of they are indirectly marketing MoFaya… Go on social media right now… As much as Prime is trending number 1, you have got people who are automatically indirectly thinking of MoFaya.”

In another YouTube video posted a week ago, DJ Sbu spoke about Prime previously sold for between R600-R800, and how the brand was good at using its “media and hype and marketing strategies.”
He commented, “It’s nothing special. It’s not like it’s a drink you’ll drink that will drive your car or give you the Lotto numbers. It’s not gonna make you good at what you do.”
He also encouraged South Africans to support local brands and products. “Be careful of being duped or enticed about all these European, American and foreign brands and products when you have got better here at home. You could be so excited about wearing other brands when you’ve got better here at home.”
