The prominent radio host Sibusiso Leope, better known as DJ Sbu, has decided to reverse his resignation from Radio 2000.
Last week, the media personality made headlines after he took to Instagram announcing that he would be resigning from the radio station to pursue a brand-new venture.
This comes after it was revealed that he previously received communication from the station’s management informing him that his contract would soon come to an end.
At the time he wrote, “This choice has not been an easy one, as my time at Radio 2000 has been filled with invaluable experiences, cherished memories, and wonderful audiences.”
“I am preparing for a brand-new breakfast morning show that I am excited to launch on a different platform starting on April 1, 2025. This opportunity presents a fresh chapter in my career, and I am eager to embrace the possibilities that lie ahead.”
However, in a sudden turn of events, he has now reversed his decision.
In a recent post, he has now revealed that he will continue his journey with the company for an extended 12 months.
“I am pleased to let you know that I will be staying with Radio 2000, having concluded an agreement for another 12 months. Keep your ears tuned in to the big breakfast, weekdays 6-9 am.”
A source close to the radio station recently told Sunday World that Sbu’s resignation came as a result of a misunderstanding.
The anonymous source stated that a letter had been issued to all on-air talent a month before their contracts expired, but that management was privately meeting with some staff members to negotiate the renewal of their contracts.
In an act of haste, Sbu misunderstood the contents of the notification and acted in accordance.
“The management told him that it was a standard letter that was sent to everybody and that it was planning to negotiate with him for a new contract because they want him to be part of the new line-up because his show is doing well,” said the source.
The source further added: “He is so upset with himself. He then pleaded with the station to help him manage his faux pas.”
