by Staff Bona

A close friend of the late DJ Sumbody, DJ Vettys was hospitalised following a recent shooting after leaving for a gig and is now said to be recovering at a location that is being kept under wraps.

DJ Sumbody, who died in Johannesburg on 20 November 2022, was killed in a hail of bullets, also on his way to an event.

The news of DJ Vettys unfortunate incident, which occurred recently in the Pretoria West area, was shared on social media via a statement from his management team. He was said to be in a “critical condition” and received treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

A woman representing DJ Vettys management and family, only identifying herself as Ipeleng, told ZiMoja that the deejay was one of three people in the car when he was shot. “Never, ever, in any way, has anything like this happened to him … Everyone survived. However, I cannot confirm if the other people were shot, but they are okay as well.”

Ipeleng further added that DJ Vettys is “recovering nicely at a secret location,” and that his family will be opening a case, although, they do not know who would want to harm him.

“He is an honest guy who just deejays and pushes his business. That is why at this point, we are trying to keep his location under wraps because we don’t know who would want to harm him,” said Ipeleng.
