Veteran entertainment personality Ntombezinhle Jiyane, famously known as DJ Zinhle has worked tirelessly and consistently through the years to build her brand to the powerhouse it is today. Her consistency has paid off, as she is set to be honoured with the Trailblazer Award at the Basadi in Music Awards (BIMA).
Taking place on Women’s Day at the Mandela Theatre, the awards ceremony, “celebrates female talent and achievements in the music industry. The all-encompassing awards honour varied talents such as singers, rappers, DJs, composers, producers and creatives in the music ecosystem,” explains the BIMA publication.
Furthermore, it says, “The spirit of the awards is to uplift, celebrate and showcase just what women can achieve when given the platform to shine.”
The Trailblazer Award aims to recognise women who have been pioneers in their respective industries, and have opened doors, empowered and uplifted those who came after them and this year, DJ Zinhle will be the lucky recipient of the award.

Renowned for her groundbreaking contributions to the music industry, DJ Zinhle has consistently pushed boundaries, inspired countless women, and paved the way for future generations of female artists. Zinhle has emerged as a force to be reckoned with, as she seems to excel in every avenue she pursues. Not only has she been providing South Africa with classic dance hits from early in her career such as ‘My name is’, to her recent drops like ‘Umdali’. She has also established herself as a formidable entrepreneur through her ‘ERA by DJ Zinhle” brand, as well as a hair company with the name ‘Hair Majesty’.
The media personality is also dedicated to uplifting the next generation, as a result, she opened an academy for young girls to develop their talents. She is also set to celebrate her 20-year longevity in the industry with her ‘ZeeNation festival’ which has had an exciting build-up.
