Don’t use my revelation against the LGBTQ+ community, pleads Inno Matijane

Reality TV star Inno Matijane has chosen to put God before everything else. Shortly after announcing that he was a born-again Christian on Facebook, he faced the wrath of keyboard warriors.

Many took issue with Inno’s sexuality and claimed he couldn’t serve the Lord and be part of the LGBTQ+ community. But The Way Ngingakhona star would not back down and accused Facebook users of weaponising his sexuality.

Setting the record straight, he said: “Please understand I never said being LGBTQ+ is a choice. When I said I choose God over the LGBTQ+ community, I just made a choice to choose God before my desires, dying of flesh and surrendering to him and his law.”

Despite the online trolling, Inno stood firm in his beliefs and added, “And you know, despite the comments. I am still going to choose God.

“I knew this journey wouldn’t be easy. I knew I’d get insults. When you choose God people always make you feel terrible for it. But he said ‘Fear not’, I know he won’t leave nor forsake me. I don’t care if I lose people or fame, I chose God and that’s everything and more.”

Thanks to support from friends and his community, the positive and encouraging comments balanced the nasty ones.

A Facebook user who found themselves in the same boat wrote: “Same here Inno. I am a born again. I am married to a man. I just decided to give my life to God.”

Another encouraged the reality TV star to ignore the naysayers: “The journey is not easy, you will be hated for no reason, you will lose friends, but as Jesus suffered we will also suffer just as the world never loved him we also will endure the same cup of suffering.

“Through it all, he promised to be with us and has assured us life after death. Remain strong in prayer and the bible will guide you.”
