Drip CEO Lekau Seohana optimistic about the brands future as he sets his sights on sport

Well-known businessman and CEO of popular footwear brand Drip – Lekau Seohana is pulling out all the tricks to ensure that his footwear brand lasts for all eternity.

After suffering multiple setbacks in hopes of expanding his brand, Lakau believes that he has learned valuable lessons along the way and chooses to do things differently as he ventures his brand into the sports and fitness industry.

According to a well-known news and entertainment publication, TshisaLive, the young creative who also holds an N3 qualification in Civil Engineering has already begun dipping his toes into unchartered territory by collaborating with renowned football team Moroka Swallows for their home and away kits.

With 2024 being the year that Drip celebrates the fifth year of its existence, Lekau wants to be at the forefront of history by creating a sports item that caters to a variety of sports lovers including footballers and runners.

“One of the things that guided us was the gap in South Africa. There’s no one making soccer boots in South Africa or running shoes who is as big as us,” he told the publication.

He further revealed that he already got the ball rolling by launching several running clubs around the country ahead of the big launch of his running shoe.

“It almost took us two years to build our running shoe. For you to understand running itself, the most important thing is you have to protect your feet. We did our research.”

Last year Lekau announced that one of his kiddies’ footwear stores would be closing down, due to liquidation as a result of low sales. This year he faced a similar setback but found a way to overcome it, adding that he may have expanded too soon due to the fear that his business might collapse. While this hasty decision may have bit him in the back, he says he has learned from his mistakes and focuses on finding solutions.

Despite this, he reveals that he won’t let the past deter him from achieving his future goals. He told TshisaLive that the brand is in a good place.

“Us launching the running clubs doesn’t end there. We want to position ourselves among the best in the world who do what you want to do, what you do. Our dreams are not just here. We see ourselves beyond borders and working with the best of the best.”
