Umkhonto Wesizwe (MKP) held their people’s mandate in Soweto’s Orlando Stadium where the venue was packed to full capacity as people came to listen to the party’s presidential candidate, former president Jacob Zuma.
MKP is a new party that was formed in September 2023 by the then-party leader Jabulani Khumalo, who has since been expelled from the party.
MKP is one of the parties hoping to make its way to parliament after the upcoming elections which are to be held on the 29th of this month.
After thousands of people went to show support to Msholozi in the 40 000 full capacity stadium, while many stood outside, the former president’s daughter Duduzile Zuma-Sambudka was left emotional.
Taking to her X, an app formerly known as Twitter, the mother of two shared pictures embracing her father in a hug and captioned it:
“At this moment I held onto my father after he asked me one question as we hugged: “Are you OK!? I held onto my father because I was holding back tears.”
She concluded, “When I composed myself, my response was: “The stadium is full.” We ended our hug and briefly looked at the full stadium.”
