Travelling the world and sightseeing tourist attractions sounds dreamy and is almost everyone’s wish. Well, we can say the opposite thing about digital content creator, Siphelele Popi Sibiya who enjoys exploring the life of indigenous tribes all over the world.
While sharing her travel adventures with BONA, Popi who is known for her travel content that explores the scary parts of the world to some, has recently introduced season 5 of The Popi Show – where she hitchhikes through South Africa and learns about the way of life of different people and different tribes.
When we asked what inspired her to hitchhike through South Africa, she said now that she has built a good enough reputation, she felt like South Africans, being her highest audience would appreciate watching her travel through mzansi.
“I felt like it was time for me to learn about my own country for a change. When I started The Popi Show, I hadn’t travelled South Africa in depth. I had only gone to the touristy places for a few days at a time,” she said.
Popi recently took to her Instagram page to share the premier of season 5, with her first stop being Matatiele in Eastern Cape where she spent nights in the mountain with the shepherds. In the clip shared, Popi documents herself navigating her way to her destination.

She also said that Africa has more cultures and traditions to explore, which makes for a more interesting show with diverse angles instead of just tourist attractions. When asked what her travel adventures are for 2025, she said: “After season 5 of The Popi Show, I’m heading to the Gabon forest in search of free-roaming elephants.”
