South African rapper Mthembeni Ndevu, professionally known as Emtee, seemingly threw shade at what might have been directed towards his former record label Ambitious Entertainment which he left in 2019 due to alleged exploitation.
The Roll Up hitmaker was featured on an episode of Podcast and Chill with MacG in 2021 where he reflected on his time at the label. He then admitted that his frustration with the label came when they would allegedly overwork him when he performed at several places in one night to only get a basic standard salary at the end of the month.
During the interview with MacG, Emtee said, “I always try my best to not step out of character. So, even when I was feeling mad and like, ‘How can they do this to me’, at the same time I would tell myself to walk away and close that chapter. Not talk to people who will gas me up, just keep it moving. I have two beautiful kids to focus on and a family.”
The Ambitious Entertainment record label had been trending for the same allegations Emtee stated with artists complaining about the exploitation they received from the label. Artists included A-reece, Fifi Cooper, Sjava, Amanda Black, music duo B3nchmarq, Priddy Ugly, Saudi and Gigi Lamayne to name a few.
The rapper who is working on new music posted this cryptic Instagram post, captioned, “Banyile. This is personal. I’m coming for everything they took from me. #DIY3 even kabo loyi, you can come.”

Instagram users were in support of the rapper dropping this album with one commenting, “Manager came we no longer leaking songs. That’s what I like about having a team. Some of the things are being handled accordingly. Can’t wait till you finally release DIY3. Good luck with everything, bro. Keep on doing the most. We are looking forward to that big album you claimed to be bigger than Avery. So far, from what I have heard, you have been leaking hits on top of hits. Keep the remaining ones for the release. Much love to you, Mthembeni Ndevu. We have trusted you by making you our role model. Don’t disappoint because this year is ours.”
