Musician Thandiswa Mazwai received a sweet shoutout from her number one supporter, her daughter Malaika, after she shared that she would be performing at NPR Tiny Desk Concerts.
NPR (short for National Public Radio) is an American independent, nonprofit media organisation that was founded on a mission to create a more informed public. For their YouTube channel, the organisation hosts musicians from all over the globe to perform mini, live concerts behind a tiny desk in a room filled with a small crowd.
Notable musicians include Sam Smith, Usher, Smokey Robinson and Alicia Keys to name a few.
Thandiswa has now been added to the list of musicians to serenade listeners with her unique skills.
Sharing the news on X (formerly Twitter), along with a picture of herself in front of the organisation’s logo, Thandiswa said, “What a great beginning to the year. We have been so excited since they told us.”

Malaika also took to X to share the news as well as the joy she has for her award-winning mom.
“Hi guys, my mom is @thandiswamazwai and she’s shooting for NPR Tiny Desk today. I always thought she was pretty cool but I want to officially say she IS cool. Thanks (by the way, I’m very proud of you Mama).”
