It has officially been one year since the passing of one of Kaizer Chiefs’ rising stars, Luke Fluers.
The Mitchell’s Plain native tragically lost his life after being brutally shot dead while seated in his car at the Shell petrol station in Florida, Roodepoort. At the time, the news sent shockwaves throughout the footballing fraternity.
While twelve months have now passed, his absence, silence, and the pain of losing a son and brother linger on in the hearts of those who intimately knew him.
With suspects now in police custody and the trial set to begin in July, his sister Sydni recently took to Instagram, highlighting that she believes that his death was planned.
In a heartfelt, lengthy post, she wrote:
“Today I find myself wondering. I wonder how long it took them to plan this (yes, we believe it was planned). I wonder what the reason was to actually sit down and plot your death.
“I wonder if they had the stomach to eat while doing all of this planning. I wonder if they personally knew you. I wonder if anyone amongst that group had any doubts, even the slightest doubt. I wonder what they were thinking while waiting for you at that robot. I wonder why your “friends” ran away. Are you mad at them? You were so strong and sturdy in stature, but knowing that you fell that night, with no one to catch you, breaks my heart.”

With this year marking a year since his passing, his family decided to celebrate his life by hosting a fun day in his childhood community of Westridge in Mitchell’s Plain, Cape Town.
The event will allow members of the community to enjoy a day filled with fun sports activities while enjoying entertainment with performances by Youngsta CPT.
Those looking to attend the event are encouraged to bring along black and gold balloons.
