Former Orlando Pirates Captain Lucky Lekgwathi has proven that there is indeed life after football.
Following his retirement in 2016, the club veteran was quite emotional, saying that he had achieved everything he needed and that it felt it was time.
“I’m emotional tonight because I think as Lucky I became a player for all fans, not just for Bucs. I want to thank all of you,” Lekgwathi said.
“It’s 14 years as a Pirate and 14 is my lucky number. 14 seasons and 14 Bafana caps. I’ll miss this…”
Fast-forward to a few years later, many wouldn’t believe that the former skipper would be exchanging his on-field abilities for a lucrative business venture with his restaurant – Grootman.
In response to a comment on Facebook, he highlights that the term “Grootman”, was inspired by a name he was given as a sign of respect post-retirement.
The place is buzzing! And seems to be a popular hotspot to cater to your tastebuds. One of the most popular dishes on the menu is the famous Kota.
Last month the former defender posted an advertisement on the restaurant’s official account introducing his clients to what he believes is the biggest Kota in Jozi.

In June this year, the entrepreneur took his business to new heights by announcing a wide range of sauces that will be entering the shelves of Shoprite and other butcheries.
