The family of the late Orlando Pirates legend Stanley Tshabalala have officially released a statement confirming the funeral arrangements of the former coach.
In the joint statement released by both the family along with his former club, Orlando Pirates the statement read:
“Tshabalala will be laid to rest on Thursday 18 July 2024. The funeral service will commence at 09h00 at Grace Bible Church in Pimville, Soweto.”
Furthermore, it went on to add: “The procession will depart from Grace Bible Church to Westpark Cemetery where the burial service will be held. After the burial, the procession will return to Grace Bible Church for refreshments.”
The former Bafana Bafana coach who was better known as the “Screamer” and “Bra Stan” passed on last week following injuries he sustained during a house burglary in March of this year.
At just 75 years old, Stanley has made a monumental impact on the art of soccer in South Africa. He was one of the founding members of the renowned Soweto-based team Kaizer Chiefs and later also had a stint by becoming the coach of the ever-good Tshwane-based team, Mamelodi Sundowns.
It is reported that his nickname “The Screamer” comes from his passion for the game and his desire to always keep the ball moving while coaching from the sidelines.
Following his death, Gauteng police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili has confirmed that no arrests have been made yet, but that police are following leads to trace the perpetrators.
