The soapie star favourites that once joined Mzansi on weeknights in their living rooms from Gqeberha: The Empire, have joined a new TV drama named Family & Rugby.
The likes of Kamvelihle Kay Bikitsha who played the role of Nozuko Mxenge, Anele Matoti who played Msimelelo Makwetu, Bongile Mantsai who was Hlumelo Mxenge, Zandile Msutwana who was Zimkhitha Mxenge and Ayanda Mankayi who played the character of Stokie, will unite in a new drama series that focuses on a high school rugby star who is faced with an opportunity of a lifetime but has to choose between saving those closest to him or his looming bright career in rugby.
This riveting feature from Back To Square 1 films was shot in Queenstown in the Eastern Cape and stars Buntu Zatu who plays the leading role of Dumisani.
Buntu will portray a rugby star from high school whose older brother will be played by Ayanda-Yongi, a skilled getaway driver and gang member. Zandile will play the character of Lulekwa, who is the mother of the two boys who will later be killed by Yongi’s gang. Their father and husband to Lulekwa will be played by Anele, who will portray the character of Wawa, an ex-rugby player.
Kay will play the character of Babalwa, who is Dumisani’s girlfriend. While Bongile is cast as Jacob, a gang member.
Kay excitedly took to her Instagram to share the news of their new project. In doing so, she expressed her gratitude for being part of the film.
