The iMakamu Funerals which is owned by Bishop Israel Makamu of the Endless Hope Bible Church and his family, is under fire after the Khambule family from Thokoza, Ekurhuleni, publicly expressed their deep disappointment with the service they received.
Despite having an up-to-date policy with iMakamu Funerals, taken out by Ayanda Ngubeni (the youngest daughter of the late Piet “Skhulu” Khambule), this was her first time claiming, and it is uncertain if she will continue using their services.
In a TikTok video shared by @igayelismart the Khambule family experienced multiple issues with iMakamu Funerals. There were no water bottles provided, the tent was not fixed the day before the funeral, and they had to call for the program to be made, which wasn’t done. The overall setup was chaotic, with the tent and chairs poorly arranged.
@igayelismart What a horrible service we got from IMakamu Funerals..My cousin has been paying her policy kahle to avoid iStress should omunye abathandayo bashone. Izolo 22/06/24 ,She couldn’t even grieve for uBabakhe cos IMakamu failed to provide Service as they should.Bathi they’re ” Committed to excellence”..mxm I doubt this commitment is for every member. Bathi ” SINAWE EBUNZIMENI”..Kuphi khona? Kuningi engifuna ukwazisa abantu about the level of service we got izolo but am just gonna name the few: 1. Tent arrived late on Friday, we had to call and not just 1 call. From what I know, IMakamu prepares the tent decor a day before, but ke nalapho we had to call them ekuseni cos wow😭😭..The funeral arranger (whatever they call it) Sandiswa was no where to be found. Nakhona naleyo decor you can see ukuthi ukudlulisa nje…they used torn cloths..irag nje..the tent was prepared 30minutes before service icala. 2. Mc had to start the service without iProgram ke..nalapho we had to call sincenge futhi😭😭uhlazo olungaka😭..30mins later wafika amaprogram with my uncle’s photo esingena neStand sakhona…3. When we arrived at graveyard, we were told the set up was for us, and sasho ke ukuthi at least they did something ryt ke la…kanti lutho, the set up wasn’t for us, kwathiwa we need to move to the other side ( that small tent engathi eyasemasojeni) No water, chairs were not well organized and the place was not even clean. So kahle kahle IMakamu Funerals need to be clear ukuthi the “COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE ” is for “specific members” thina we dnt deserve to send our families with dignity. I am hurt and so disappointed. Naloyo Sandiswa wakhona was very rude..mind you, this was the first time basebenzela ucousin wam Ayanda Ngubeni . Lapho I also have iPolicy nabo..Funeral parlours must stop selling pictures cos they fail to act according.#imakamufunerals #bishopmakamu #supportblackbusiness ♬ original sound – D⭐️
According to The Star, Bishop Makamu’s legal representative, Advocate Prince Mafu of Mawandla Law Chambers, stated that his client learned about the complaint via social media, as the family did not formally report the issue.
Without a formal complaint, no disciplinary action or investigation can be undertaken. Makamu was preoccupied with his own mother’s burial at the time.
Family spokesperson Nomfanelo Khambule stated they filed a complaint about a funeral arranger named ‘Sandiswa.’ She was supposed to ensure a dignified burial for their loved one, but instead, she caused them lasting distress.
