Hulisani Ravele shared her views on Freedom Day and what the 29 years of freedom means since the first day black South Africans were able to vote.
She shared the following on her social networks, “27 April 1994, a negotiated freedom. 27 April 2023, an amoral freedom. Dear Young Citizen of South Africa, if there’s one thing you do today to commemorate #FreedomDay, please let it be that you register to vote:

Many social media users shared their feeling on Hulisani’s post, one user wrote, “Been postponing to do this for weeks now, thank you for the much needed reminder. Just finished registering.”
Another user added, “Freedom is not free. In 2023 I still experienced racism and abuse in the workplace as a young black educated female! In 20 freaken 23!”

She also added, “And yes, every country has its issues, all I’m saying is it’s heavy here. Kumnyama (It’s dark) and not the Eskom kind.”

Many users shared similar feelings as the media personality. One user wrote, “It’s hard! Even the optimism in me has been snuffed out to a point I have lost hope. I focus on my goals and my son to try and be positive about life”
