After the news broke that self-proclaimed TikTok “doctor” Matthew Lani had been busted for his lies, many social media user and celebs found a way to poke fun at the situation.
Gauteng’s Department of Health recently opened a criminal case against Matthew who pretended to be a medical doctor giving out medical advice on the app.
When questions started erupting about his identity and his qualifications, Matthew claimed that Lani was not his surname but his social media name, adding that his real surname was Zingelwa. He also claimed that he graduated as Bongani Zingelwa from Wits University. Upon hearing this, Wits issued a statement denying having records of anyone by the name of Bongani Zingelwa or Sanele Zingelwa who had graduated in recent years.
On social media, Matthew was often seen wearing scrubs and a stethoscope around his neck. Taking “inspiration” from the bogus doctor, Somizi shared a video of himself on his social media sporting a stethoscope and dancing to TLC’s hit song No Scrubs.
The Idols SA judge is also seen attempting to put on surgical latex gloves which then snaps at the end.
He captioned his post, “I don’t want no scrub. I have my stethoscope and I’m registered with SPCA.”

Thembi Seete, who is also a judge on Idols SA, commented, “O sele babe???.”
While a fan jokingly asked the choreographer, “Where are your scrubs? ???.”
