Multi- hitmaker and the one part of the Durban’s Finest duo, Mbusi “DJ Sox” Sokhela recently visited DJ Sbu’s podcast, Hustlers Corner where he spoke about his drug addiction, losing everything, marriage and his love for family.
The DJ played a major role in putting the Durban music sound on the map with his Durban’s Finest partner DJ Tira went through a very rough time where he lost his asserts, including his properties.
Speaking to DJ Sbu, the Qolo Lami hitmaker went on to mention that at some point of his success he fell down after he got into drugs, losing everything.
He noted:
“At some point I fell when I got into drugs, and I lost everything. When it was time to bounce back, I decided that there’s DJ Sox and there’s Mbusi Sokhela, let me focus on Mbusi Sokhela first.”
Sox shared that he started taking drugs at a friend’s funeral who was very well known in the drugs circles. He added that he hesitated to take them but ended up doing so and continuing for seven years after that.
While deep in drugs, Sox who shared that his drug of choice was ecstasy and cocaine lost most of his asserts making him realise he needed to take charge of his life.
After seeing a rehabilitation centre which offered a full detox and rehabilitation procedure on the investigative show Carte Blanche, the deejay shares that he booked himself into that institution.
The deejay went on to add that when he was down, he got support from his family who supported him in every way possible.
