After the final whistle on Saturday evening, Mzansi’s favourite sports team achieved more than just reaching the finals of the rugby competition – they also inspired an entire nation.
After the match, several videos began circulating on the internet showing just how much a Springbok win meant to the nation.
In one video, a young boy who watched the semi-finals between the Boks and England with his family is seen in tears after the match official Ben O’Keeffe blew the while to conclude the game.
In a hysterical voice, the young man screams, “Ons is deur (We have progressed),” while family members cheer him on.

In another video, another fan’s heart nearly stopped during the thrilling encounter. Springboks fly-half Handre Pollard slotted the final kick which ultimately put the nail in the coffin. There was nobody more excited than the fan. The man could not contain his emotions and shed some tears of joy.
A local Spar in Cape Town went the creative route by renaming many of their grocery items after the players in green and gold.
In a post circulating on Facebook, the caption read, “There’s no country that stresses God like SA [crying emoji].”
The post also includes pictures of some influential players in the squad – only this time with a twist.
Our Springboks captain Siya Kolisi’s picture can be seen near the cauliflower section with his name being renamed to “Siya KoliFLOWER.”
The rock-solid Eben Etzebeth’s picture has been moved closer to the beetroot and renamed “EtzeBEET.”
Other players also include Franco Mostert, who has been renamed to Franco “MELKtert”, and the fullback Willie Le Roux, whose name was changed to “Chilli Le Roux.”
Users in the comment section found this extremely amusing and even added a few ideas of their own.
