For the first time since his daughter’s death, Moses Tembe, father of the late Anele Tembe sat down with SABC’s Chriselda “Babes Wendaba” Lewis, in an exclusive interview to talk about Anele’s death.
Anele Tembe rose to fame when she dated rapper Kiernan Forbes later falling to her death at the Pepper Hotel in Cape Town, after falling from the tenth floor.
On the third anniversary of her death, Chriselda interviewed Moses at the library built in honour of Anele by the Tembes at her former school where he spoke intensively about the night he received the news of his daughter’s death.
The father shared that they were getting ready to go to church as a family when his brothers arrived to break the sad news.
“To see your daughter lying there covered in foil is quite a traumatic experience, at the time we didn’t have any details, either than that she’s fallen. So one was beginning to think, who was there at the time she fell and we were told that she was alive for 20 minutes. I began to say who was there, who saw her. So there were many questions which added more pain to the whole experience, so it was quite painful.”
Moses stresses how much Anele loved life and was looking forward to her plans.
He added:
“I also knew that the way she loved herself she would not strip herself naked and throw herself down.”
Speaking of how the public thinks that he is involved in Keirnan’s murder Moses said that he is not worried about faceless people who can’t come forward and say things to his face as he has never been questioned by the police regarding the rapper’s murder.
Speaking of the inquest into his daughter’s murder that he opened after the case was closed, Moses shared:
“I did indicate to you that, that inquest and closure for the family will never be complete without Keirnan. If there’s one family that wanted Kiernan alive it’s our family. To see him there with his own mouth, telling us exactly what happened on that fateful day.”
