The survival of a near-death experience seems to have given South African DeeJay Nkosinathi Maphumulo, popularly known as Black Coffee sometime of introspection.
This weekend the Grammy Award winner began trending on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) – and this time not for his music, but his spiritual life.
Taking to the platform, an X user who goes by the handle @_KealebogaMO shared a video of the 47-year-old as he made his way to the front of a fully packed church service. It appears that the prominent DJ was responding to an alter call done by the church pastor when he gracefully surrendered himself to prayer.
Attached to the video, which was uploaded to X, the user wrote:
“Black Coffee giving his life to Jesus Christ is the best thing I’ve ever seen so far in 2024 glory Be to God.”

Thus far the video has received more than 344 000 views and hundreds of reposts in less than 24 hours.
Following the news many users entered the comment section sharing their joy.
“All glory to God in Jesus’ name,” was what one user wrote.
While another explained that this can only be achieved through divine intervention.
“There comes a point in your love where you will have an encounter with God and the only way to explain how you made it through a situation is to acknowledge that there was a divine intervention.”

Meanwhile, others criticised the videographer for documenting this sacred moment, adding that this was a moment between him (Black Coffee) and God.
“Altar call was supposed to be a moment between him and God, yet someone saw it befitting to do this in that moment? Bazalwane ba invasive are tiring. People are celebrating a soul for God, and you thought let me capture a celebrity? Strange behaviour while in ‘Spirit.’”
This is such a personal experience I don’t understand why would you take a video???

The news came merely a week after the artist thanked his followers for allowing him to have his space following a horrific plane accident.
In a recent Instagram post, he wrote: “I’m thankful to the merciful God for giving me yet another chance.”
