Amapiano artist Duduzile Ngwenya, popularly known as Lady Du got slammed by internet users after suggesting that Tyla should have worn an African designer at the Met Gala.
Tyla who made her first debut at the Met wore a Balmain sand dress by French fashion designer Olivier Rousteing and while many internet users praised the Grammy Award winner for her outfit, it seems like Lady Du’s comment rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.
Lady Du’s comment on Instagram regarding Tyla’s outfit choice said, “Imagine if she came wearing African print MAXHOSA !! That would have been a show-stopper but this is also fire!!

Many X (previously known as Twitter) users were quick to defend the Grammy award-winner as she was dressed according to the Met’s theme.
One user alluded that South African artists were jealous of Tyla’s success.
Most SA artists are probably foaming at the mouth because of her success. 🫠

Another user commented:
This is why SA red carpet is always a mess. They imagine things that are far from the theme 99% of the time

One user suggested:
Why don’t she go there and wear those things herself? Ooh my bad. 🫢
She should have kept quiet though.
