The song Bhebha has been taking social media by storm, having some confess to it slowly replacing South Africa’s “national anthem” Sister Bethina.
The viral song by ShaunMusiQ, Ftears and Xduppy was posted on YouTube on 12 April, and has already reached 1.2 million views. The song has also been used in more than 7500 posts on TikTok, where users are participating in the viral challenge by gyrating their hips to the beat.
Many took to Twitter to express their thoughts about the song in comparison to Mgarimbe’s Sister Bethina.
“To be honest Bhebha is slowly replacing Sister Bethina, people are losing morals when that track plays,” wrote one Twitter user. The tweet received over 3000 likes.

Of course, many were in defence of Sister Bethina. One user responded, “Masekind I disagree with you. Bhebha is temporary, it’s like a side chick. It’s only nice for a short period of time. Do you remember John Vuli Gate.? It was nice that time. Now we don’t even hear it anymore. Sister Bethina is FOREVER.”
