Tony Forbes, the father of slain rapper Kiernan Forbes better known as AKA recently went on social media to express how the last 2 weeks have been difficult for him and his family.
This could be because the 10th of February marked one year since AKA was brutally murdered in an alleged hit.
AKA and his longtime friend, Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were gunned down outside a popular restaurant in Durban’s Florida Road, a street well known for its trendy eateries and nightclubs.
Taking to his social media to share some of the pain he has been going through since his tragic loss, Tony shared:
“These last 2 weeks were harder than I thought it would be, no matter that I have re-lived it over and over in the last 12 months.”
He further said, “As I write this, I am sitting in my car outside my gate waiting for the white butterfly… I just saw it.”
Tony lamented that a white butterfly appears whenever he asks Kiernan to show his presence:
“I just saw it, it’s my ritual of asking him to show me he is with me. But it is harder than ever now, so many things don’t have meaning anymore.”
The latest update from the SAPS is that they have made progress in the double murder investigation and the case is now in its advanced stages with some suspects already identified.
In a statement released by the police, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe (SAPS national spokesperson) and published by Sowetan, the brigadier said “The SAPS acknowledge and understand that in the past year we have spent countless hours and endless manpower on tracing those behind these murders. We have a dedicated team of specialists, seasoned detectives, analysts, technicians working closely with the Director of Public Prosecutions in KZN. It is important to highlight that this is a prosecution-driven investigation.”
She also added: “We have made progress; we have positive evidence linking identified suspects. Others are in custody related to other matters. Others are on the run and the team is hot on their heels. We are aware of the limited communication with the affected families. The investigation is at a very sensitive stage, and we have therefore taken the decision to limit all communication related to this matter. The limited communication was not at all intended to undermine any of the affected families. We will however endeavour to improve on this in the near future.”
