South African businessman and musical artists Thato Mbha popularly known as TTMbha opens up about how hard it is to be married and be a public figure at the same time.
The Amatyma (fathers) founder is a husband and dad, he also strives to encourage other dads to be present and take part in their children’s lives.
During an interview he had with Engineer your life with Lungelo KM, TTMbha said that being a married public figure is difficult because your marriage is not only yours it becomes everyone’s marriage as social media now feels entitled to it and you will be scrutinized by the public.
He said, “for an example, I post a video of my kids and my wife is in the background, first of all my wife is an introvert. Then you get people saying aah she is so moody; she does not appreciate.”
He also added that, “Or I buy her flowers and she does not respond how the internet wants her to respond because she is her own person. Now that creates problems in our marriage because now if I don’t understand my wife, I will take her up based on what people are saying.”

In answering Lungelo’s question of whether he think marriage is still relevant, TTMbha answered, “absolutely it’s not only relevant but it’s necessary. It is an institution that every country needs.”
“Marriage is a foundation of any society because it gives you stability, it gives you a sense of belonging, family and identity”, he added.
