The multi-award-winning singer Lerato ‘Lira’ Malope has found a new appreciation for the gift of life as she celebrates two years of recovery from a near-death experience.
In 2022, the singer suffered a severe stroke while in her hotel room ahead of her performance at a concert in Germany. As a result, the singer was unable to go ahead as planned. In addition to this, the unfortunate occurrence resulted in the musician not being able to speak, read or write.
Six months down the road, she was also diagnosed with aphasia, a reversible language disorder caused by damage in a specific area of the brain that controls language expression and comprehension.
However, after two years, the Feel Good singer is almost back to her old self and says that she is grateful to be alive.
