Former Miss South Africa and Miss World 2001 top 10 finalist Jo-Ann Strauss shared a moment with her followers getting ready for Miss Supranational which is set to take place this coming weekend. The former beauty queen is currently in Poland as this year’s Miss Supranational official host.
The beauty pageant will see beauty queens from different parts of the world battle it out on stage for the crown currently held by former Miss South Africa 2021 and Miss Supranational 2022 Lalela Mswane.
Jo-Ann shared a video of her photoshoot wearing a burgundy long dress with a bit of shimmer by designer, @stephen_van_eeden. In her post, the mother of four reminded people of the importance of spreading the spirit of Ubuntu.
She captioned her video:
“It’s time to host another incredible event on a global stage and this time I’m in Poland to host @misssupranational with inspirational and aspirational women from across the world. Let’s embrace the spirit of Ubuntu.”
“The word ubuntu is part of the Zulu phrase “Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu”, which literally means that a person is a person through other people. Ubuntu has its roots in humanist African philosophy, where the idea of community is one of the building blocks of society.”
“I am because you are.”
Further defining what Ubuntu means Jo-Ann shared:
“It embraces the idea that humans cannot exist in isolation. We depend on connection, community, and caring — simply, we cannot be without each other.”
She finished off by thanking her team for helping out, adding:
“Thank you to my team for putting together these looks that I cannot wait to share on stage this Friday and Saturday. Stephen, ek waardeer jou en jou span ❤️ my incredible dress designer.”
