South Africa’s football world finds itself in a state of disarray as Kaizer Chiefs secure a Nedbank Cup semi-final after being granted a controversial goal that led to a 3-1 victory against Stellenbosch FC.
For a change, Kaizer Chiefs fans across the country are currently enjoying the remnants of a thrilling victory over Stellenbosch this past weekend. They have also encouraged those opposing the decision to grant their team the controversial goal to visit the nearest police station branch to open a case of robbery as the football world remains split by the results of the eventful match up.
In a matter of minutes, a tight game that was tied at 1-1 seemingly headed for extra time ended in tears for Stellenbosch and what started as a typical and competitive showdown has resulted in an intense dispute between supporters after match officials deemed an effort from Pule Mmodi in the 11th hour as a valid goal. The controversy might stem from the clashing rulings from the officials, as referee Sikhumbuzo Gasa initially ruled it as a goal, while his assistant raised his flag for an offside call, which was later ruled out and a goal was granted to the Soweto Giants.
Goal!!!! Mmodi’s goal stands!!!

Wasting no time, Stellenbosch took to their X(formerly Twitter) to express their frustration over the call that essentially led to their unfortunate loss. According to their admin, this is nothing new to them as it is not the first occurrence where they were subjected to a result that sabotaged their chance at victory.
We’ve seen this story before 🤷♂️
Chiefs score, the goal is ruled out, then given. They score again. Our cup run ends.
