Renowned gospel singer Kelly Khumalo is once again chewing her nails as the murder case of slain footballer Senzo Meyiwa continues.
On Monday those accused of the murder of the former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper made their appearance in the Pretoria High Court. At the hearing, the lead investigating officer Bongani Gininda told the court that he had high suspicions that the singer was involved in the killing of her ex-lover.
According to the news publication Sunday World, Officer Bongani’s suspicions were based on the confessions of the accused number one and two who alleged that Kelly was the one who ordered the hit on the father of her child.
Following a short break, the investigating officer was cross-examined by Zandile Mshololo, who is representing accused number five.
During the questioning, he told the court he was not convinced that Senzo was killed by Longwe Twala, who was also present at the time. Instead, he believes that it was done by intruders.
Meanwhile, there was still no evidence available to prove that Kelly was indeed the mastermind of the murder.
“Based on my recollection, there was no electronic money transaction from Kelly Khumalo for all the accused. Based on the evidence that we have, the money was paid in cash,” he said.
“There is an amount of R30 000 that was paid at the Basotho Hostel after the murder of the deceased. There are no transactions between Kelly Khumalo and any of the accused.”
Meanwhile, the cross-examination is set to continue today.
