There cannot be anyone who bursts with more pride than actress and media socialite Khanyi Mbau.
The 38-year-old expressed her happiness as she took to Instagram to share that she has officially become a matric mom. This comes after her daughter Khanukani recently completed her grade 11 examinations and progressed to her final year of high school.
In multiple Instagram Stories that have since been deleted, the Young, Famous & African star shared pictures of the mother and daughter duo, thanking her teenage daughter for putting in the hard work and excelling in her academics.
“So proud of you angel. You kept your word!!! One last push … HERE WE GO!!!!” she wrote.
Over the years, the reality star’s parenting style has been subjected to lots of criticism. This comes after she once revealed that her teenage daughter lived alone, in one of the episodes of Young, Famous & African.
“We allow Khanz to be herself, if she wants to try stuff, I mean anything… we let her try it. Cause we want to see who this person is,” she said on the show.
When asked about where the line should be drawn as Khanukani was just 15 years old and might want to experience having sex, Khanyi responded by saying, “Virginity can be lost or it can be stolen. So lost is when you are ready and it’s a boy you think you are going to marry, you give it away. You love this guy, you are 15, you think you are going to marry him… you give it away.
“I said there’s no age for it. You can give away your virginity tomorrow night. It’s worse because you sleep in your own apartment,” Khanyi added.
While many did not appreciate this response, Khanyi has kept on doing what suits her.
