The much-anticipated Young, Famous & African finally came out on Friday, and boy was it messy!
Viewers on social media networks had so much to say about everyone on the show. They spoke of what they liked, did not like, and some were shocked to see other sides to their favourite celebrities.
Cast member Khanyi Mbau was among those who were not happy this season. The actor, singer and radio host who currently resides between South Africa and Dubai shared how she was made to look bad by the production team in order to suit a certain narrative.
The media personally posted a lengthy message on her Instagram saying:
I finally saw @youngfamousandafrican, contrary to popular belief, we do not see the show till it is released to the public, so we are essentially just as surprised as the public.”
“It was a very hard a painful watch for me, it triggered me so much, during filming I was not well, I was diagnosed with burn out M.E. in February, meaning I have been struggling for 14 months during production. Filming was incredibly hard , I watching the show with one eye open, it was painful , I saw the bad state I was in, I struggled with my speech most of the time and had zoned out 90% of the time ??♀️.”
Khanyi went on to say, “The show is so dramatic OMG! How did I live through this ??♀️. The editors are messy and very spicey..? reality tv neh..? @urbanbrewstudio.”
“Sadly the editor made me the villain AGAIN! ?editing out pivotal moments that give clarity, and deleting real scenes that shared the visuals of my real world , eg, our children. The cuts and pastes of the scenes and the order is completely wrong and made to fit a certain narrative.”
The multi-talented Khanyi ended her post by adding:
“I let things slide last season, treated it as show business but my kind nature is setting me up for failure in a very bad way. To our die hards and day ones, thank you for waiting and staying with us regardless. Hope you all got to see the show and all your faves again YOUNG FAMOUS AND AFRICAN only on @netflixsa.”
