In a world where the rise of social media and video streaming platforms such as TikTok and YouTube plays an important role in bringing people together, the rise of dance challenges has been a central component in modern entertainment.
Since the introduction of the national lockdown in 2020, many have turned to these platforms to explore their creative side by curating content to ensure that their followers maintain their humour amidst those troubling times. This has ultimately seen the rise of the now famous content creators and influencers as well as content such as dance challenges which allowed everyone to participate.
The dance included a group of people dancing to trendy songs while showing off some of the most simplistic dance moves.
Recently renowned gospel singer and songwriter Khaya Mthethwa took to social media to start off a dance challenge of his own, however, not everyone was impressed.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) online blogger Musa Khawula reposted a short clip of the Settle for Less singer and what appears to members of his congregation as they show off their moves to the Livela Kuwe dance challenge.
In good spirits, the clip shows the singer and a trio of ladies demonstrating the moves to the new fun dance challenge while his latest song plays in the background.

Meanwhile, those in the comment section were filled with mixed emotions.
Some users criticised his stance as a Christian and why he has felt the need to adapt to the secular world, while others highlighted his inability to dance, adding that he should stick to songwriting instead.
I don’t have the English for it bethuna! Why are Christians trying to fit into worldly challenges?

On a lighter note, those entering the comment section on his Instagram page found humour in the new challenge, with some adding that they intend to start learning the moves.
Meanwhile, Khaya is not the first South African to introduce dance challenges. Others over the years included the Water dance challenge, which was introduced by singing sensation Tyla, as well as the Jerusalema dance dance challenge which began following the release of the hit song of DJ Master KG and Nomcebo Zikode.
