Despite the pair becoming legally single at a hearing in March, Kanye dragged his heels on the divorce, which made the settlement take months.
On Tuesday, November 29, TMZ reported that they had finally filed the papers necessary to finalise their divorce. According to the terms of the deal, the former couple will have “equal access” to their four children while also sharing joint custody.
It is reported that Kanye will be accountable for paying $200,000 per month in child support, which is due on the 1st of each month. Kanye is not footing the bill on the child support, that is just his share. Each parent will be responsible for paying half of the costs associated with the children’s security and education.
Kim and Kanye have agreed to take part in mediation if there is ever a conflict involving the kids. In a dispute, if one of them abstains from taking part, the other automatically decides.
The two had a prenuptial agreement and kept their property largely separate and neither will be liable to paying spousal support.
The couple started dating in 2012, and in 2013, they welcomed their first child, North West. The former couple tied the knot on May 24, 2014, in an Italian wedding at a Renaissance-era stronghold in Florence.
When Kim initially filed for divorce in February 2021, the two seemed to be on the verge of an amicable separation with mutually agreed-upon conditions. Both parties remained silent about their breakup until early this year, when Kanye began criticizing his ex wife, along with kim’s family and her ex-boyfriend Pete Davidson on social media.
His grievances included being denied the ability to make significant parenting decisions and being barred from birthday celebrations and other events for their children.
‘Kimye’ as they were fondly known is now officially not a thing.
