The award-winning amapiano artist Lady Du has offered upcoming artists in the industry some valuable advice.

The musician whose real name is Duduzile Ngwenya knows all about what it means to make sacrifices and recently shared some words of encouragement to help others understand just how much sacrifice it would take to achieve one’s goals.

Taking to the social media platform, Instagram, a proud author and businesswoman shared how she found herself at a crossroads of having to make two hard choices that would ultimately have affected her future.

“This is not to brag but to inspire people that think success is something bigger than them.”

“In December 2022 I took a risk, I had two choices, either to pay off my house or buy a house cash in the hood and start a business that will eventually pay off my debt.”

“I took option 2 and never looked back. I bought a property, built a salon and every time I got a show, I invested the money into the building. We started May 2023 and in October 2023 we opened, it was a success,” she explained.

She added that she soon continued this method of saving her money earned from shows to later open another franchise in 2024, and by the looks of it, a third might be on the way.

Her encouragement to other artists was not to waste their money on temporary pleasure, but to start investing in their future.

“To artists, you only peak once, then stay relevant the rest of the time. At your peak, try not to fall into the trap of trends and start building yourself!”

“This industry isn’t easy at all, so move smarter!”

She further emphasised that her main goal is to own enough properties that she can leave a legacy for her daughter.
