
It looks homeschooling should be considered with the amount of rape cases that are coming out where learners are sexually violated by teachers.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Polokwane, Limpopo, has launched a manhunt for a 58-year-old teacher accused of repeatedly raping a 13-year-old student between November 2024 and March 7, 2025.
The suspect, employed at a primary school in the Capricorn South Education District, allegedly committed the heinous crimes over several months.
The police investigation began when another teacher at the school accompanied the victim to her mother and reported the incident. The parent subsequently opened a case against the suspect.
In a shocking turn of events, the teacher evaded capture when police contacted him to report to the station. Despite initial indications that he would cooperate, the suspect fled in a different direction while in Hammanskraal, Tshwane.
Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the province’s commissioner, has condemned the alleged actions of the teacher and urged the police to track him down and apprehend him. The SAPS is working tirelessly to ensure the suspect faces justice for the horrific crimes.
This disturbing incident has sparked widespread concern and outrage in Polokwane and beyond, highlighting the need for increased vigilance and protection of vulnerable children within educational institutions.
Children should be safe when they are at school, but it seems like there’s no safe place for them. Parents flooded the comment section demanding a quick arrest others concerned about the safety of their children, some are even considering homeschooling.
