Renowned South African musical composer Leboghang Maroke has made it clear that his estranged wife Pretty Samuels will be leaving their marriage without getting a single cent from the divorce.
The two first announced the end of their relationship in August last year with the musician popularly known as Lebo M making it clear that there is no sign that their relationship is being restored after just a year of being married.
At the time, the Grammy award-winner and composer of The Lion King refused to provide insight into what led to their relationship going south, saying:
“I will not be drawn into salacious allegations and innuendos about my business and personal life. I will be going ahead with the divorce and have already instructed my attorneys.”
Meanwhile, it was later reported that one of the main reasons for their break-up was because Pretty was involved in fraudulent activities.
According to a report by local news and entertainment publication The Citizen, the 59-year-old gave his wife proxy to sign off on documents on his behalf while he was away in Europe between April and June last year.
Lebo added that when he returned, he enquired whether she deleted his signature from her computer as requested and asked to sign an affidavit to confirm that she did, however, she refused.
At the time he said:
“This has placed me in a position of great discomfort, and I fear for my life and that of my children. I am worried and do not understand why my estranged wife refuses to sign the second affidavit.
“I am consulting with my attorneys to investigate and verify whether I have any fraudulent life policies in my name and/or any life covers taken to insure my life without my knowledge and consent, as this would be tantamount to fraud,” he said.
With legal proceedings currently underway, an associate of the couple has revealed that Pretty is allegedly requesting financial support from Lebo, however, he is not interested in submitting to her request.
As reported by Sunday World, Pretty highlighted that Lebo would be receiving a large sum of R187 million as a payout from his music catalogue.
She therefore also requested a division of his estate which allegedly includes an R5.5 million property in Pearls of Umhlanga and an R1.8 million property in Cedar Acres, Sandton. In addition, she is demanding R2 million from him to cover her legal costs for their pending divorce.
However, the source says that Lebo has spotted his wife in Fourways driving an expensive car, alluding that she is not struggling as she claims to be.
