Satirist comedian Lesego Thlabi has travelled to Paris, France to obtain her masters in Global Communications.
For the past few days, Lesego has been sharing her time in Paris as a tourist, exploring the City of Love with her mom, Dr Penny Moumakwa.
“Getting to spend this much quality time with my mom has been my absolute favourite thing. She’s such an easy person to travel with because she’s down for anything,” wrote Lesego in one of her posts.
In a recent Instagram post, the comedian shared that she is no longer a tourist but a student.
“Mixed feelings… I’m very excited about the year ahead… My mom reminded me that when we were here in 2004 (I was in grade 10) I saw some students sitting alongside the River Seine and I said, ‘One day, I will be a student here and come sit here with my wine and cheese.’ I can’t believe how long that has sat in my subconscious and how, without even remembering that until I was reminded, I honoured that promise 15 year old Lesego made to herself,” wrote The Great South African Bake Off co-presenter.
“The mixed feelings part comes in because I had to say goodbye to my best friend. I’m just terrible with goodbyes, ask anyone ? But I wasn’t sad this time around. I will miss her so much but this time it was tears of gratitude for the time spent and memories made and also a sprinkling of girl don’t go.
“Anyway I’m ready and this time next year I will have obtained my Masters in Global Communications from the American University of Paris.”
She concluded, “I can’t wait for the course to begin and I can’t wait for the time when we get to our internships. But again, let me not get ahead of myself. I’m looking forward to day 1 and then I’ll go from there.”
