Rising star Lizwi Wokuqala had the world at his feet. Unfortunately, his life was tragically cut short following a car accident that left fellow muso Malome Vector and film director Da Mos dead.
Wokuqala was travelling in the same vehicle as Vector and Da Mos, real name Musa Lecton Nkondo when they were involved in a collision on the N8 in Bloemfontein last Wednesday.
The Chelete star was due to release his long-awaited EP Gamelihle on August 9, but with uncertainty surrounding his burial, the release date remains in the balance.
According to the Daily Sun, Wokuqala’s family has appealed to the public and his fans for financial help with transporting his body from the crash site to his hometown of Inanda to be buried.
His family is hoping to have the funeral in Durban on Sunday, 4 August, but is struggling financially, the publication reported.
Family spokesperson Stanley Khoza told the Daily Sun that the artist had just started his career and didn’t have enough money to cover his funeral expenses. “Any help or contribution will be greatly appreciated,” added Khoza.
The family would need R100 000 to cover the expenses, including the coffin and undertaker.

In the meantime, funeral arrangements have been announced for Vector who will be buried on August 10 in Maseru, Lesotho. Da Mos was laid to rest on Tuesday in Pretoria.
Vector’s body was returned to Lesotho earlier this week where hundreds of fans lined up along the road at Maseru Border Gate to welcome his remains.
