As South Africans many of us grew up dreaming about the day that we walk in the streets and have our faces shining on billboards. Well, this has become a dream come true for one of our own, Lorna Maseko. What’s more, is that she went international.
Renowned chef and media personality Lorna Maseko is brimming with pride as she recently had the privilege of witnessing her face appear on the billboards at Times Square in New York.
Walking the streets in the city known as the Big Apple, she took to Instagram to document her reaction to this wonderful achievement.
In her post, she wrote:
“So, this epic thing happened – I’m on a billboard in #TimesSquare – I really have no words or caption to capture this moment, literally my wildest dreams!! I hope my daughter is proud when she sees this and understands one day. So grateful! 🙏🏾❤️”

The billboard advertised a seminar called the Culinary Chronicles, in which Lorna appeared as the host as she engaged with the rest of the panel for a discussion on emerging vegan trends and a plant-based soul food cooking demo.

Following the 40-year-old’s post, many of her friends and colleagues entered the comment section to congratulate her on the prestigious achievement.
Former Miss South Africa Basetsana Kumalo wrote: “Congratulations darling. Upwards and onwards!!!🙌🏾👏🏽.”
The presenter and media personality added: “Yes my love 🔥🔥.”
Furthermore, Lorna who is well known in the reality show industry after becoming the host of BBC’s Lifestyle show Homegrown Tastes South Africa, also received support from BBC Studios South Africa who claim to have always believed in her.
“Love this! Although we’re not surprised at all 😉💃.”
